An internationally recognized leader, consultant, and healthy campus specialist with over 30 years experience in higher education. In addition to her consulting role, Kathleen is currently serving as the Morrison Family Associate Vice President for Student Well-being at Kansas State University. Prior to this, Kathleen was Executive Director of Recreational Sports at The Ohio State University after her role as Assistant Vice President for Campus Life & Executive Director at Washington State University.
Kathleen served as President of NIRSA* (2013-14), concluding nine continuous years of board and governance commission leadership roles during a successful repositioning of NIRSA in higher education and a vital force in the development of “healthy people and healthy communities”. Kathleen is a catalyst for inspiring cultural and organizational change while maximizing opportunities within the built and natural environments.
Kathleen’s passion, leadership and expertise is well recognized within post-secondary in Canada and the U.S. One of her recent areas of specialty is working with multiple associations for broader collective impact strategies including NIRSA, ACHA, NASPA, CACUSS and other active living, recreation and sport organizations and ministries.
An industry leader for more than 27 years, Chris’ experience is rooted in leadership and consulting roles within higher education and community with proactive, upstream well-being impacts (recreation, wellness, health promotion, and community-building). He has consulted and worked in Canada and the U.S. including in his current role as the AVP for Health and Wellbeing at Northwest Missouri State University and with Calgary’s ActiveCITY Collective.
Chris has also served in volunteer industry leadership roles including NIRSA's* Board of Directors, the planning committee for NASPA's Wellness and Health Promotion Leadership conference, and the steering group of the U.S. Health Promoting Campuses Network. Chris also has experience presenting on related industry topics including at NIRSA, NASPA, ACHA, IUHPE, CUPA-HR, CACUSS, ARPA, and Athletic Business.
Chris’ strengths include researching and synthesizing ideas into coherent strategy and action. He is a convenor, facilitating and engaging other leaders to harness the collective power of collaboration to envision and create a future of well-being for healthier people and healthier communities. Chris is a champion for the value of recreation, sport and active living as foundational to individual wellness and community well-being.
